MMHA offers Houseleague and Representative play.
Other than the traditional houseleague and rep levels there are a few other options and those are defined here:
(Note: these programs are not guaranteed to be offered annually and are dependent on OMHA approval, interest/skill level, registration numbers and other factors)
MD (Minor Dev't) program:
- currently only offered for U8 and U9 and possibly
being offered at U7 next season as well
- Players must live in Milton
- Players ONLY play on this team
- Non-contact (no body checking at any age group)
- Travelling team, in a local loop currently determined
by TriCounty/OMHA
- Top up fees to cover added costs (extra ice/jerseys,
jamborees etc)
- On ice 2-3 times a week,
- Tryouts in the Fall
Select program:
- Potentially for U7 to U18 age groups, determined
annually, dependent on interest/skill level-typically one team per age
group
- Players for this team are "selected" from
their houseleague teams. They play on both teams.
- On ice once a week with their select team AND on ice
with their houseleague team (typically twice a week).
- Weekly select ice can be used for a practice or an
exhibition game vs. another centre. There is no set loop. Teams
find their own opponents
- Top up fee to cover jerseys/extra ice, tournaments
etc.
- Players do not need to reside in Milton
- Non-Contact (no body checking at any age group)
- Tryouts in the Fall if program is offered
Advanced Houseleague
Program:
Potentially
for U10 to U18 age groups, determined annually, dependent on interest/skill
level
o Houseleague team that
players tryout for
o Tryouts in the Spring
o Team is removed from
Milton houselegue scheduling and represents Milton in the Mississauga Hockey League
o Players ONLY play on
this team
o Set schedule provided
by Mississauga
o Some games in Milton,
most of the games to be played at Mississauga rinks (Erindale, Meadowvale, Clarkson, Port Credit etc.)
o Practice ice in Milton weekly
o Players do not need to
reside in Milton
o Top up fee to cover
jerseys/full ice practices, tournaments, etc.
